Megan Valkenburg is an experienced Community & Civic Engagement Practitioner with decades of successful collaboration in the higher education and non-profit sectors. Passionate about experiential learning and community partnerships, Megan specializes in event planning, community-engaged teaching and scholarship, ludic learning, adult education, and community-based learning.
Throughout her career, Megan has worked alongside diverse groups of community partners, faculty, and students, focusing on creating sustainable solutions to pressing community challenges. A dedicated play practitioner, Megan is also a member of the Professors at Play community, an international network of higher education faculty, researchers, and instructional designers committed to the transformative power of play in adult learning. Additionally, she is a trained LEGO Serious Play facilitator.
Committed to fostering innovative collaborations, Megan works to bring together the necessary resources, skills, and knowledge to create meaningful change, particularly for vulnerable and marginalized communities. Megan holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master of Science in College Counseling and Student Affairs from Shippensburg University. She is also featured in the Professors Play Playbook, a valuable resource on community engagement. Megan resides in Forty Fort with her husband and children.
